Al Ain, UAE
Al Ain’s largest hospital and the region’s leading medical institution, Tawam Hospital, is pleased to announce five exceptional conferences ranging from Orthopaedics to Pharmacy organized and hosted by the hospital in affiliation with Johns Hopkins Medicine from the USA, to be held over the course of 2008.
Today, in keeping with SEHA’s and Tawam’s commitment and efforts to raise the standards of the UAE’s healthcare system, Tawam Hospital is hosting the 9th Tawam Orthopaedics Conference titled “Modern Methods of Orthopaedic Management” at the hospital’s Polyclinic in Al Ain.
Commenting on this event, Dr. John Kopke the chairperson of the Orthopaedics Conference, said: “Due to our affiliation with Johns Hopkins Medicine, today’s conference has not only attracted speakers from all over the UAE, but also the UK and the US. It has been a great success and I am delighted with the outcomes of the congress which primarily focused on the improvement of Orthopaedic standards in the UAE. The cracking pace was phenomenal, yet the surgeons still managed to captivate the audience with an array of topics that were interesting, informative and thought-provoking to say the very least.”
Due to the resounding success of not one, but three conferences already conducted this year, Tawam Hospital will host the Paediatric, Respiratory Therapy, Image Methods and Pharmacy, respectively throughout the course of the year. The first of which will take place on the 15-17th of May at the Intercontinental Hotel in Al Ain. This second annual International Pediatric Conference focuses on “Hot Topics in Pediatrics” featuring speakers from local hospitals, the Middle East, Europe and the USA.
Dr. Mohamed Al-Malik, Paediatric CME Director and Senior Consultant in Child Neurology at Tawam Hospital, commented: “Last year we had over 250 attendees and more than 25 national and international speakers at the 1st annual gathering, this year is set to follow suit and has already attracted over 300 guests. Our main topics areas of discussion will ensure that each and every attendee leaves the event with a comprehensive update on pediatrics in general, as well as Neonatology and other subspecialties ranging from accident prevention, vaccinations and diabetes.”
Saif Al Qubaisi, Managing Director of SEHA, said, “Our mission is to raise the standards of healthcare delivery in the UAE to world class. Conferences like this will help us reach that goal. That is why we have partnered with Johns Hopkins to manage Tawam. Their expertise and research focus brings real credibility and educational value to healthcare professionals in the region.”
Tawam Hospital is renowned for being a public hospital that boasts global recognition for its exceptionally high medical standards, research facilities and treatment practices. Commenting on the hospital’s commitment to providing world class treatments in the UAE, Mr. Michael E. Heindel, CEO of Tawam Hospital, said: “In providing a platform for surgeons, doctors, and nurses, Tawam is reinforcing its commitment and that of SEHA’s to further the development of the UAE’s healthcare services. The forthcoming conferences on Respiratory Therapy, Imaging Methods and Pharmacy will undoubtedly follow the likes of our previous events held this year; the first annual Asia & Middle East NCCN Guidelines in Oncology Symposium in January and the first Surgical Oncology Symposium held in March.”
The first International Respiratory Therapy Conference titled “Achieving Respiratory Care Excellence in the New Millennium” will be held in October, followed by the Imaging Methods Conference at the beginning of November and the Pharmacy Conference towards the end of the year.
