RACH Charity Foundation Hosts Fundraiser to Benefit Underprivileged Communities

March 22 , 2010,
Dubai, UAE

Under the patronage of HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, RACH Charity Foundation—a non-profit charity organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of underprivileged children and families—will be hosting a gala fundraiser event to raise awareness and funds for the benefit of underprivileged communities across the region on March 25th in Dubai. A number of distinguished guests and business leaders have already pledged their support as proceeds from the event will be divided equally among the Foundation's various international projects and a Dubai based charity.

Hosted at the 'Jumeirah Beach Hotel', the evening's program will present a number of entertainment appearances from internationally renowned Indian artists such as designer Manish Malhotra and production director Salman Ahmed Khan. The celebrity filled lineup will stage a series of Bollywood era performances as well as an auction that will feature a number of items donated by corporate institutions and private donors, including jewelry from the private collection of HRH Princess Fay Jahan Ara, President of the RACH Charity Foundation.

Reflecting on the event, Princess Jahan Ara believes that Dubai is the ideal location for the group's fundraiser given the country's rich ethnic diversity. "As a cosmopolitan, multicultural city that is home to nearly 200 nationalities, Dubai provides amazing opportunities for cultural exchange, and the people of Dubai have always been very generous in supporting charitable causes," comments Princess Jahan Ara.

Princess Jahan Ara believes that the main objective in hosting the fundraiser is to mobilize resources and support for the Foundation's growing initiatives to ensure sustainable development of underprivileged communities. At the same time, she hopes that the event will facilitate meaningful interactions between cultures and the Dubai community as a whole, creating an atmosphere of goodwill and understanding. RACH's previous fundraiser—held in Chateau de Versailles, France, in 2009—was hailed as a major success and raised notable funds for the charity's projects.

"This year there is the added challenge of the global financial downturn which has had a harsh affect on impoverished communities in the developing world," says Princess Jahan Ara. "To that extent our work is more important now than ever before."

Established in 2007, the RACH Charity Foundation develops and supports community-based initiatives that provide sustainable solutions for the social and economic development of historically underprivileged communities. The Foundation’s activities cover four core areas of interest – Education, Healthcare, Essential Infrastructure & Services, and Social Integration.
