Ducab Tees Off In Memory Of Valued Employee
Ducab employees, suppliers, contractors and distributors tee off at the Montgomerie Golf Club for the third DUCAB ANNUAL GOLF DAY

Ducab, the leading manufacturer of high quality power cables in the Middle East, took to the Golf course on Wednesday April 16th in memory of a well known and well respected employee Mr Bob Howard.

The 2008 Ducab Annual Golf Day took place at the Montgomerie Dubai at 1pm, following a shotgun start. From beginners to golf enthusiasts the event attracted over 90 people with a maximum handicap of 28. Comprised of Ducab management, suppliers, distributors, and friends and family of Mr Howard, participants were organized into teams of two with the best two stableford scores recorded on each hole. With temperatures in the mid 30s and a clear blue sky the day could not have been more perfect.

The day came to an end at 7pm with a short speech by Ducab’s Managing Director, Mr Andrew Shaw and a few words from a close friend of Bob Howard. The latter expressed his gratitude and thanks to everyone who organized and sponsored the event, he spoke briefly about Bob’s love of golf and his involvement in organizing previous Ducab Golf Days in the past. 

The winners were then announced by Ducab’s General Manager - TECHNICAL, Jon Vail, with Mrs Howard handing out the following prizes; first prize The Bob Howard Memorial Trophy and AED 1000 Mall of the Emirates vouchers were awarded to Mr Lewiki and Mr Goff from BSBG, second prize AED 500 Mall of the Emirates vouchers were given to both Jonathan Mellor and Keith Nethercott from Coast FM 103.2, and the third prize AED 200 Mall of the Emirates vouchers were given to Steve Bale and Tony Leach from Hanscomb. Prizes for the nearest pin were as follows; Jonathan Mellor, hole 6 and Mike Roberts, hole 17. For the longest drive on hole 3, the winner was Steve Bale.

Following the prize giving, a surprise lucky dip was held and Ducab gave away loads of exciting electronic gift items to their guests. Talking about Mr Howard, Ducab’s Managing Director, Mr Andrew Shaw, said: “I’ve been with Ducab since 2007 and have heard many employees talk highly of Bob. He was well respected throughout the company for being a stupendous team player. It is a well know fact that apart from his family, Mr. Howard’s other love in life was golf and I know that over the years this event has meant a lot to his family. I would like to thank all of the sponsors and the Ducab team for organising the event.”
