Because it is important that we all understand exactly what we hear and say, here is a short brand glossary of branding terms we commonly use.
just keep it as your reference, whenever you need it just come here and click on Brand Glossary under Categories

Brand Glossary

Brand A brand is a name, term, sign, symbol, association, trademark or design which is intended to identify the products or services of one provider or group of providers, and to differentiate them from those of competitors. A brand has functional and emotional elements which create a relationship between customers and the product or service.

Brand Attributes Brand attributes are the functional and emotional associations which are assigned to a brand by its customers and prospects. Brand attributes can be either negative or positive, and can have different degrees of relevance and importance to different customer segments, markets and cultures. Brand attributes are the basic elements for establishing a brand identity.

Brand Audit A brand audit is a comprehensive and systematic examination of a brand involving activities (both tangible and intangible) to more…

Hana means “Flower” in Japanese.

This screensaver looks pretty cool. But! it’s only available for OSX. (Unfortunately I’m not mac user….)

—————————————————

Hana is a dream about flowers for computers.

The idea is that no aspect of creating the flowers is hidden from the computers, everything is created in code and no bitmaps are used that the computer has not seen to the creation of itself, letting the computer “think” through every step.

Web design is more than just creating clean code and sharp graphics. A site that really works fulfills your strategic objectives while meeting the needs of your users. Even the best content and the most sophisticated technology won’t help you balance those goals without a cohesive, consistent user experience to support it.

The following diagam(The Elements of User Experience) was published on Jesse James Garrett’s Web site in 2000, Garrett has thoughtfully given texture, depth and meaning to a complex process. He has expanded the model through insight, not so much as a how-to guide, but as a thought-process guide–providing a backdrop for the decision-making processes that go into building a successful Web site.

My favorite design style is minimalist-style(Minimalism-design). I’m not sure becuase of my nationality, I like finding the beauty in simplicity.  I often feel “the less is the more”, but at the same time being simple and mimimal is hard to do since I have tendency adding things more and more.

Here are some elements about minimalist web design:

  • simplicity, simple elegant - make the simple things simple
  • clean and fine finishes
  • use of the fonts
  • use of the white space
  • essential use of graphic - use graphics only when absolutely necessary
  • the subject is reduced to its necessary elements
  • using only a small number of shapes and color
  • natural textures and colors
  • sometimes use contrast colors for aesthetics, or to emphasize what is important
  • easy to navigate
  • use css (cascading style sheet) to make the pages smaller and load faster
  • unique

Here are some minimalistic website designs I like;

BTW, speaking of minimalism, I like also minimal art & design, and my favorite artists are Sol Lewitt, Donald Judd , Dan Flavin and more… How about you, guys?

Also I feel the people in this region generally have a tendency to consider “The more the better”. Do you feel the same way?
